Built for the seat next to someone, not the seat alone.
"A business card gets filed away. A conversation over coffee gets remembered."- Founding note, 2026
Grounds for Connection started at a networking event that felt like every other one - name tags, small talk, a stack of cards nobody would look at again. The one exchange that actually mattered happened afterward, off to the side, over two cups of coffee neither of us finished. That's the part worth building a company around.
So that's what we make coffee for: pulling a chair up next to someone, putting the phone down, and having the kind of conversation that turns a stranger into a contact worth keeping. We partner with local, family-run businesses right here in Montclair and roast in small batches, because a rushed cup makes for a rushed conversation. A portion of every order goes directly to Toni's Kitchen, Montclair's own fight against food insecurity - because a real seat at the table should be open to everyone.
